Vineyards of Bourgueil

The Vineyard of Bourgueil is situated in the south west of the territory of Touraine Nature and includes the villages of Coteaux-sur-Loire (Saint-Patrice, Ingrandes-de-Touraine), Restigné, Benais, La Chapelle-sur-Loire, Bourgueil and Chouzé-sur-loire. It is a 1300 hectare area in the Loire valley and on its hillsides you find its vineyards: soft and fruity wines from the gravel, strong and tannic wines from the tuffeau rock.
The Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée* (A.O.C), permits the use of one grape type only – the Cabernet Franc, called " The Breton " locally.
