4th Biennial of Contemporary Glass

Le squelette de Philippe Beaufils

A fragile and fascinating material that lends itself to all daring

The glass, like the clay, is now an important part of the artistic landscape of Langeais. Blown, molded, enamelled, thermoformed or assembled with other materials, the glass is a source of original expression. From July 4th to August 23rd, 2015, the city of Langeais organizes an exhibition of glass-making artists that will allow visitors to admire the strength of creation that allows this material.

“Eternal Glass”, subject of this new edition

For twenty years, the city of Langeais organized several successful exhibitions around the glass allowing the public to admire the great diversity of shapes and colors offered by this material. Several exhibitions have followed one another with in 1997, the exhibition ” Between Glass and Decorations ” which hosted more than 1500 French and foreign visitors, or in 2005, the European Exhibition of Glass ” Between colors and transparency “.
The 1st Biennial has been launched in 2009 under the leadership and with the help of Christopher Blottin, local glass artist for the exhibition ” Glass and Light “. Olivier Mallemouche sponsored the 2nd Glass Biennial in 2011 ” In Glass and between all “. ” Glass, the noverlty “, the last glass biennial organized in 2013, has revealed Sylvie Freycenon with the audience award.
For this fourth edition of the Biennial of Contemporary Glass, the city of Langeais offers to twelve glass-making artists to express their talent on a theme: Eternal Glass. For nearly two months, Philippe Beaufils, Marine Bidoux, Florent Chaboissier, Jürgen Chaumarat, Micheline Domancich, Sylvie Freycenon, Marion Fillancq & Vincent Lascour, Adeline Huger, Kazumi Tai, Julia Titova and Murielle Vissault will present their works at the Cultural Space La Douve.
